Evening on the Deck

Evening on the Deck

Cozy and romantic, this private guest house is situated on the bank of the Rio Grande River. The private flagstone patio has its own custom natural warm water mineral tub (100 - 102 degrees), which overlooks the rio and the sacred Turtleback Mountain. The home is located in the historic hot springs district of TorC, which has recently had much national media coverage due to its quirky retro atmosphere and the nearby future spaceport. The historic downtown is littered with commercial hot spring facilities which draws to the area a wide array of professional healing art practitioners. From the casita, there is an unobstructed expansive view of the diverse desert chaparral and Turtleback Mt. One gets the feeling of remoteness; however, within three blocks, one may discover art galleries, coffee shops, restaurants, local grocery, banks, antique, junk and book stores. While watching out this wall of windows in the Great Room, one can observe wildlife in the desert or the wide variety of bird life while the Turtleback turns crimson in the late afternoon sun. This true adobe home has been a vacation rental since 2009. It is furnished with antiques, local art, and oriental rugs. The fully equipped kitchen, with copper farm sink and upgraded appliances is all you need to cook a gourmet meal with the world renown Hatch green chile. Hatch is only a half hour’s drive away so you can get your own right from the roaster. Come to tube, kayak, golf, swim, hike, fish, explore, bike, or just relax and take in the view. There is something for everyone.

PET GUIDELINES

 .

We love traveling with our beloved companion and welcome yours to enjoy the casita with you. Please assist us by following these few simple guidelines:
The house is literally on the bank of the river so if your dog likes to swim, we ask that you bring an old towel for drying her off before entering the home.
We ask that you do not leave the dog unattended in the home while gone unless you crate her. As an option, we have a enclosed walled area in front of our home where you can leave her and not worry about her escaping. Please be aware that our summers are hot and leaving the dog in your car is not permitted by city ordinance.
We prefer that the pets do not get on the furniture; however, if she has the habit of sleeping with you at night or is a lap dog, a couple of old sheets are provided to protect the furniture and bedcovers. Or, bring your pet’s favorite blankets.
The yard is not totally enclosed as there are escape routes along the river.  You will need to keep her leashed when entering and exiting the property if she is inclined to roam.
The garden and entrance yard is a common area shared by our family. We have a 45 lb. shepherd mix named Neko, and one cat, a grey tabby named Picca. All have the run of the property and use a kitty/doggy door located next to our front door. Neko is quite socialized and loves to play with the visiting dogs. Picca is very shy so you may not see her at all. If your pet is not socialized or dislikes and/or chases cats, you need to keep your dog leashed at all times.  Out of curiosity, our dog will come visit you while you are on the patio or in the tub. If this is an issue with you or your pet, you may want to consider seeking another pet friendly accommodation.
And, of course, please clean up after them in the yard and the streets.
If these guidelines are agreeable to you, please initial on the contract which is forthcoming.
Thank you and we hope your pet enjoys his/her stay at Casita del Rio.
